Souheir's Artistic Journey

Souheir is an Artist who creates mixed-media paintings and assemblages representing Sacred Images, Figures and Portraits. She received her degree in Human Development and certifications in Art, Education, and Expressive Arts Therapy.  Her schooling included studies at Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena, California, Studio Arts Center International (SACI) in Florence, Italy, and Prairie Institute of Expressive Arts Therapy in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

She and her husband moved to Old Mesilla in 2022, after having lived and taught Art in Northwest Montana for several years where they raised their family in a log house that they built in the woods outside the town of Whitefish.

She has always been interested in Portraiture, having a strong connection to Egyptian Icon Art in particular.  Her family comes from the Delta near Alexandria, Egypt where they have farmed for hundreds of years along the Nile river.  The funerary “Fayum” portraits are especially impressive to her and has inspired her interest in Iconic imagery.
